George Washington inherited a grist mill along with the Mt Vernon estate. Just down the road from the present estate grounds, the mill (and whiskey distillery) can be visited. According to the website, this was a state of the art millwork at the time, and Washington ground his own grain as well as that of neighboring farmers. Tours are available and the millworks are run for visitors. It's quite a thing to see and hear these huge wheels and gears in action. Definitely worth a visit.
These coordinates take you to the parking area of the George Washington Distillery and Gristmill. Washington's distillery was also recreated and it can also be visited on a tour at this location.
