The Capt. Austin Jenks House was built circa 1871 for riverboat pilot Capt. Austin Jenks and his wife, Harriet. Captain Jenks, a riverboat pilot, became involved in the booming lumbering business in Stillwater by running boats which moved rafts of logs.
The brick house is a combination of styles including Italianate, American Gothic and French Second Empire. The house has been restored and is in very good condition. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Place in 1982.
