Quick Description: This Spirit of the Doughboy statue was dedicated as a memorial to those from Emmitsburg who served in World War I. It is located in a very small park at the west end of town on West Main Street.

Long Description:
The statue was erected to honor those from Emmitsburg who fought in World War I. A wreath is laid at the statue on each Memorial Day.
One interesting thing about the plaque on the pedestal that lists those who died and those who served is there that is another category at the bottom of the plaque - "Colored Soldiers" with three names.
