Long Description:The stone monument has a wooden cross on the top and reads as
so:
'This monument was erected by Lord Willoughby D'eresby circa 1850
to commemorate the reputed birthplace of Taliesin Chief Bard of the
6th century on the shore of Llyn Geirionydd.
The Arwest of Gwilym Cowlyd was held here between 1863 - 1922.
The column was destroyed in a 1976 storm and re-erected in
1994.'

The website below has some further details:
'The poet Taliesin (c. 534 - c. 599), was the earliest poet of the
Welsh language whose work has survived and he is often referred to
as Taliesin Ben Beirdd (Taliesin, Chief of Bards). He was chief
bard in the courts of at least three kings of Britain, and is
associated with the Book of Taliesin, a text from the tenth century
containing his poems. He lived in the area, mainly on the shores of
Llyn Geirionydd, where he is also stated to be buried.'
