These steps are a public pedestrian throughfare connecting the boulevard Via Cavour to the square of Piazza San Pietro in Vincoli, where the same-named church is located. The church is known primarily for the Moses marble statue by Michelangelo.

The steps are notable for the fact that they are partially covered by a residential building, built on top of the steps.
