The starting location is where you can park in Maes Llydan in the village of Capel Garmon. From the village follow the footpath to the north west alongside the bungalows and out through an old rusty gate passing an old white farm cottage. Turn right heading up the hill to a stile and access gate from this location you can already admire the view down into the village with the church huddled in the centre.

Continue north east across the steep incline heading for the corner of the paddock where you will find a large metal gate. Go through this and head towards the large ladder stile through the grazing cattle. The next part of the walk takes you along a meandering track between the trees with views to the hills to the north of Betws y Coed. There are overhead wires along this track and gorse.

You will emerge from the trees and come across a gate on your left and straight ahead with a ladder stile next to it. Climb over the ladder stile by the tree with the tangled wool entwined in its branches. You are now in sheep country with a fence running to your left. We were lucky to see a red kite circling above whilst the lambs played in the grass.

Head across the field towards the far corner keeping the fence on your left and crossing the stream. There is a gate in the far corner where you can exit the field and you can see the remains of an old quarry on the left and an abandoned farm building on your right. To your right in the fence is another ladder stile you should cross next to a footpath sign.

You will now continue through the sheep field with the fence on your left still following a slight dip in the landscape. Ahead and slightly to the right is another gate and ladder stile you need to climb over. There is a double footpath sign here.

Follow the same track towards the hedge crossing the bumpy terrain and going up the incline until you can see a small building ahead. This is our final location and where a panoramic view can be seen. The building is a small radio repeater station as you can see in the middle of nowhere.

Views across the Conwy valley can be seen towards Llanrwst. The route is 3km walk there and back and one we really enjoy.
