The first Cathedral was dedicated in 700AD, the second was built between 1085-1140 and the present buildings work began in 1195 and was completed in 1330 when the Lady Chapel was added which is currently undergoing major restoration due to be completed in 2016.
Lichfield is the only medieval Cathedral in Britain with three spires, the central spire is 77m/258ft tall, NW spire 58m/193ft and the SW spire 59m/197ft.
Take time to look at the 113 statues on the west front of the building along with the 766 carved heads inside the Cathedral.
