Ribeauvillé is found 16 kilometres north of Colmar, in the Haut-Rhin department.
Ribeauvillé itself doesn't have great highlights, but it is a nice, pleasant town, with the obligatory narrow streets of medieval Alsace houses, and parts of the ancient town walls still standing.
The town is best known as a place to explore the many castles and villages in this part of Alsace - the villages include Hunawihr, Riquewihr, Bergheim, Beblenheim and Kaysersberg.
The main attraction close to the town is the nearby cluster of three castles, and easily accessible: castles at Ulrichsburg, Girsberg, and Hohrappoltstein.
Ribeauvillé is on the Alsace Wine Route
