A pink granite monument in the shape of the State of Missouri. Engraved with the image of a miner above the grave of a fellow miner. This state park was formerly the St. Joseph Lead Co. in the Old Lead Belt of Southeast Missouri, which is part of the premier lead mining district of the world. This memorial is in remembrance of the 200 workers who lost their lives just doing their job during the 66 years of this facility's operation, as well as those who have died mining statewide.
