The Louisville and Nashville Depot in Nashville, Illinois was built in 1885. The depot was typical of those built by the L & N Railroad at that time in rural communities. The during its heyday in the 1920s - 30s the depot served up to seven different passenger trains a day along with freight trains averaging once per hour around the clock. As with most depots it saw decline in traffic in the 1950s and 1960s and was closed. The building is currently vacant though at one time there was discussion of converting it to a museum this has not been brought to fruition.
