Long Description:
The Three Pagodas are an ensemble of
three independent pagodas, built in 9 and 10th century, arranged on
the corners of a symmetric triangle. The main (69.6 m tall) Qianxun
pagoda is encompassed by two lower (42 m tall) pagodas. One of
these two sibling pagodas is thanks to ancient architect's mistake
slightly inclined. The inclination is close to 5° angle and is the
result to inadequate strength of pagoda's foundation.
Three pagodas with Chongsheng Temple
in Dali are symbol of the history of Dali City, and a record of the
development of Buddhism in the area.
