The Haunted Pillar of Augusta is considered to be Augusta's most Haunted location.

There are many stories of the Haunted Pillar.
One story tells that the Pillar was used to tie slaves to that were being sold at market. A slave woman cursed all the market, causing it’s destruction, and the stain of that curse remains in the haunted pillar.
The story quoted on wikipedia tells us of a preacher who was denied the right to preach there, "... threatened that a great wind would destroy the place except for one pillar and that whoever tried to remove this remaining pillar would be struck dead,".
Needless to say, I wasn't inclied to touch it!
