Located in the northeast corner of Kingsbury County, South Dakota, Bancroft has a population of 34, as of July 2007. This is a decrease of 8% since the 2000 census.
The population is made up of German, English, Dutch, Scottish, and Irish ancestries.
The major business in Bancroft is the Osceola Farmers Elevator which serves the local agriculture community and formerly called the Sexauer Elevator. The BNSF railway serves this business.
The town is small enough not to warrant a post office.
The local church is located on Main Avenue and is called the Murdock Memorial Orthodox Church.
Local students attend other area schools such as DeSmet, Iroquois, or Doland.
