The Sacramento Bee was founded in 1857, its first issue was dated February 3, 1857. Its early home was a two-story brick building on the west side of Third Street. The original address was 1016 3rd Street.
This is one of four California Historical Landmarks that were destroyed when Interstate 5 was built in Sacramento. The location is now under the freeway.
