Mt. Davidson is the highest point in San Francisco, CA at 279 m. or 938 ft. Originally named Blue Mountain, it was renamed in 1911 for George Davidson, a geographer. George Davidson was a surveyor for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, and he originally surveyed the mountain in 1852. Davidson died in 1911, and the hill was named in his honor.

Sometimes the views from Mt. Davidson are limited by the hilltop being in the fog of San Francisco. The hill is covered with a man-made forest and residences. Publics parklands of 38 acres surround the 103 foot Mt. Davidson Cross at the summit. The lands of the cross and the cross itself are owned by Council of Armenian American Organizations of Northern California.
