One day I spent some time geocaching along Guadalupe Creek in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve. As I walked back to my car from the trailhead, I crossed over a bridge that was going over a different creek than the one I had just been following. I looked over the edge of the
bridge and realized that I was looking at a stream confluence.
I climbed down to stream level to enjoy the cool shade where these two streams converge. The coordinates are taken at the Y where they meet. After examining maps when I got home, I determined that the second creek was called Rincom Creek. About one quarter mile downstream from this confluence, the result flows into the Guadalupe Reservoir, formed by the Guadalupe Dam.
The bridge and nearby pull-off parking are about five miles up Hicks Road from Camden Avenue in San Jose, CA. One hundred yards further up the road is SA02, a gate into Sierra Azul OSP and nearby geocache GCP8Q2, SA02 (Nazgul Secret Trailhead #3).
