Along this stretch of the Chagrin River, two flour mills, four woolen mills, two sawmills, and three paper mills once flourished. The last paper mill closed about five years ago. Today, this town is a popular tourist destination with small inns and fashionable restaurants. The steps to the falls are located behind a tourist attraction called the Popcorn Shop.
The steps to the falls are closed off during the snowy and icy winter months, but the area to the northeast and southeast above the falls offer opportunities for potential year-round visits. There are many parking areas in this small town and on-street parking is available within view of the stairs.
