MEMBER OF COMMITTEE WHICH FRAMED THE ORDINANCE OF SECESSION, DEC. 1860; COLONEL 1ST REGIMENT SOUTH CAROLINA VOLUNTEERS; BRIGADIER GENERAL IN 1861. MORTALLY WOUNDED AT FREDERICKSBURG DEC. 13, 1862; DIED TWO DAYS LATER.
