On Hillside Street, at the border of the town of Milton and city of Quincy, by both the State Police Barracks and the Blue Hills Reservation Headquarters, stands a wood and stone rambling barn. This barn was once used as the horse stables for the former Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) now Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) mounted rangers.

Around 2004, the mounted unit was disbanded. In 2008, the unit was revived; however, the barn was no longer usable, so the horses are housed in a stable in Westwood.

The barn is located next to Hillside Street and is easily visible from the road. This barn is a rambling complex, which a wooden main structure with a barn roof and a stone structure close to the road.

The barn, today, appears to be abandoned. There are places where the siding shingles are missing. The doors were closed. Signs on the north side still show evidence for state police mounted horse stables.
