The Grand Central was constructed as a "railroad hotel," from 1887 to 1890. From 1908 to 1981, it was operated as Hotel Brumley. Carefully restored under the supervision of seven historic preservation agencies, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation, it reopened in 1996 as the General Morgan Inn.
The marker is on West Church Street, while the hotel is on North Main Street.
