Long Description:
The Space Walk of Fame Museum is operated by the U.S. Space Walk Of Fame Foundation, which provides the monuments found in Space View Park. The Foundation's members are mostly retired space workers from the Kennedy Space Center, the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, and the contractor community that supports them.
The artifacts on display are on "long term loan" to the museum from the members themselves. Therefore this museum contains certain things that even the Smithsonian can't get ahold of, because the things here belong to the workers themselves.
If you visit on a Launch Day, for example, you probably won't see the straw cowboy hat with shuttle mission pins that's usually under plexiglass. Sam Beddingfield is probably wearing it in Space View Park around the corner, and will put another pin in it before returning it to the exhibit.
Feel free to ask any of the museum workers what they did out on "The Rocket Ranch", but you better have enough time to spend to hear the stories...
