We first tried Berryville Vineyard's wines at a local wine tasting festival, and we were blown away. Because of their wine, we made it a point to go visit their location. Do not let the long gravel roads deter you. You will be rewarded with wonderful wine at the end.
We have since learned that all their wines are from estate-grown grapes and berries. This care and control of the end product clearly shows. Our favorites are the 2004 Proprietor's Reserve (dry red) and the 2007 Traminette (dry white). The 2007 White Squirrel is also a very nice semi-sweet white named after the white squirrels of nearby Olney, IL.
The tasting room is found in the middle of the farm. Since it is a working farm, do not be surprised to be greeted by the farm cats - some of whom like a nice scratch behind the ears. While the adults are sampling the wines, the children can feed the fish in the pond.
Because this is a relatively new winery, they are always improving the farm and the tasting experience - but the wine comes first!
