This survey disk is located in a rock ledge along Asylum Road, near a turnaround and a parking lot for a scenic overlook.
To reach the mark, from the center of Bristol, RI, travel north on Hope Street (Route 114) to the intersection with Asylum Street, which is the entrance to Colt State Park (there will be a gate with two statues of bulls). Turn left onto Asylum Street and travel approximately a half mile to a U-turn between the road lanes and the mark on the left. Park in the scenic overlook parking lot a short distance east. The mark is located approximately 25 feet west from a street light post and is on a rock ledge level with the ground.
The mark has the words, "Rhode Island Geodetic Survey" along the survey disk outer edge, then other words that are hard to read but include "RI DOT". Embossed in the middle of the disk are the designation, "BR001" and the year, "1989."
The mark is in good condition, but appears to have been painted over once or twice, making smaller words hard to read.
