El Polin Springs is a short walk from the
Julius Kahn Playground or Inspiration Point in San Francisco's Presidio.
Text from a sign near the springs reads:
El Polin is the only named spring at the Presidio. Historically, it was an important fresh water source for Ohlone, Spanish and Mexican occupants making this area an attractive location for settlement. Here you can get a glimpse of the spring and the historic brick dams that were built to improve access to the waters. El Polin also provides a year-round source of water for the central creek tributary of Tennessee Hollow watershed which drains to Crissy Field Marsh and San Francisco Bay.
