During the last weekend in April, the City of Cambridge holds the first of its kind science festival in the country. 2009 is the 3rd festival run, and the intention is to keep it going annually. The festival is run to showcase the many scientific and technology innovations and research happening in the city of Cambridge through lectures, carnivals, interactive displays, workshops, and many other channels.

The web site provides all the information about the festival. The list following are events for the 2009 festival:

-Opening Day Science Carnival
-Evolutionary Haiku
-Augmented Reality-Building Your Own GPS Games
-Charles River Solar System
-Eco Boat Tour on the Charles River
-Darwin, Artificial Intelligence, and Creativity
-Sidewalk Astronomy
-Inspiring Minds: Meet Women in Science
-Stepping into Virtual Worlds

The main sponsor of this festival is the MIT Museum (coordinates are pointed to the museum). Many other institutions and companies come together to be venues for events, have tables in the carnival, or volunteer at/sponsor events. From their web site:

"The Festival's collaborators – MIT, Harvard University, the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Schools, Cambridge Public Library, WGBH, and the Museum of Science – reach out to K-12 students, the general public, and the science community, to excite and ignite curiosity."

Hundreds of people have come through in each of the past festivals. This one (2009) should be no different. In 2009, the event runs from Saturday, April 25 through May 3.
