In a section of Dedham, Massachusetts, called East Dedham, stands the East Dedham Fire Station. The wooden structure, currently under construction, is possibly the oldest wood-framed fire station still in use in the country. The web site for the Dedham Fire Department stated that the building dates back to 1855.
The fire station, at 230 Bussey Street, is easy to spot, since it has no buildings next to it on one side as it is next to a strip mall. The station has signs for Ladder No. 2 and Engine No. 3, but the web site seems to indicate that only the Pumper remains.
The number of staff members mentioned are those assigned to Engine 3, according to the web site.
The number of alarms answered per year is for the whole town of Dedham and includes those answered by the main station.
