Built in 1912, this is the first Federal Courthouse to be constructed in Oklahoma. The detail in the original building is incredible (Photo included of the roof line). The original building was three stories tall.
A second addition was added in 1919, creating a new main entrance on 3rd street. In 1937, the addition of a nine story central tower was completed.
The original bulding was constructed in the Beaux-Arts Classicism architectural style. Additions to the building were carefully done to reflect the original style.
Aside from architectural importance, the building was the "first truly monumental structure in the city..." Its central location is important to growth and development of the city.
