On E Union Street in historic Burlington, you will find the oldest fire company in the State of New Jersey under the same name, and an impressive clock spire...which wasn't there originally.

The Endeavor Fire Company was established by John Hoskins, Jr. to solve the problem of fires of the expanding towne. By the eighteenth century, fires became more frequent and more destructive due to the population increae and tighter living quarters. The Endeavor is still one of six active fire companies which serve the City of Burlington.
The Endeavor's spire was originally on the Town Hall and Market House on High Street.
