The Cathedral was built on a site in Kanda selected by Archbishop Nicholas (Kasatkin), now St. Nicholas of Japan, the founder of the Orthodox Church in Japan.
This Cathedral was designed by Josiah Conder, very well known architect who educated many Japanese architects who later won distinction, notably TATSUNO Kingo.
Since its importance of historical and In 1962, this Cathedral was officially designated as Important Cultural Properties by Japanese Government.
We are allowed to visit and see inside the Cathedral but taking photo is strictly prohibited. 300 yen donation is appreciated to visit here and it is worth doing.
