Lighthouse located in the Maó district (terme de Maó) in Menorca, Spain.
The tower is built in cement and sea rocks from the area and painted in black and white stripes with 2 balconies in the top.
The light is seen up to 26.5 miles from the shore.
It started working in the 20th September 1922 as an effort to stop the permanent shipwrecks in the area.
In order to built it the materials had to be carried by ship because there were no acess roads to the area.
The first light sistem was a Chance 85 by petrol vaporization built in Birmingham.
The Lantern and the rotation sistem used untill 1971 were designed by Barbier Turenne from Paris and built by the Casa Maquinista de Valencia.
It was automatized during the eighties.
Favaritx Landscape represents (mythicaly) the end of the world, and, with justice, is one of the most supernatural of Menorca.
