PMVFD was established in 1904 and soon after purchased its first ladder wagon for $50. Since then it has grown considerably and now has two Engines, three Trucks, one Ambulance and a Rescue Boat. In addition to general Fire and Rescue services the department has a Volunteer Ambulance crew, Fire Police Service, and a River Rescue Team. PMVFD also hosts a number of social activities which help raise money for the department and draws business to the local community.
