Way before the current fad of caffinated energy drinks, a Chicago chemist named Bill Swartz back in 1949 created a lemon-lime "energy booster" drink fortified with B vitamins, caffeine and cane sugar.

Tri-Cities Bottling Corporation is also the developer of another famous beverage - Mountain Dew - which the brand was sold to Pepsico.

While Tennessee legislatures made milk the official state drink in March 2009, others would recommend Jack Daniels or Dr. Enuf to be more iconic for the region.
