Vasona Lake Park is a 150 acre park that is very popular. Forty-five acres of open lawn surround the jewel of the park, Vasona Lake. Vasona Lake occupies about 58 acres. From early spring to early fall, one can rent a paddle boat or row boat to cruise the lake. Fishing in the lake is permitted from boats or piers on the shoreline.
There are several picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition there are eight group areas at scenic spots throughout the park that can be reserved.
The Los Gatos Creek Trail travels, north and south, the whole length of the park and is available to hikers, runners, bicyclists, and skaters. Vasona Lake Bridge connects the east and west trail systems of the park.
At the north end of the park is the Youth Science Institute (YSI), an educational center that focuses on the science of Nature. The lovely Viola Anderson Plant Trail is adjacent to the YSI. For the bird and wildlife fans there are free viewing scopes from which you can observe the lake fowl.
Every Saturday in June and July, there are free outdoor concerts, featuring local artists, performing a variety of types of music.
From Thanksgiving to Christmas, Vasona Park is decorated with holiday lights, and the display can be viewed from your car while driving through the park.
The park is open year-round from 8AM until sunset. Vehicle entrance fee of $6 and lake use fees are collected year round.
Adjacent to Vasona Park is Oak Meadow Park, a town park of Los Gatos.
