This sundial hangs on the south facade of Community House No. 2 in historic New Harmony, Indiana. New Harmony was founded as a utopian commune by German Lutheran separatists in 1814. Today we refer to them as "Rappites" after their spiritual leader, Father Rapp. A sundial like this one hung on his house. When the house burned in 1844, the sundial was moved to the current location. The original sundial has since been replaced by this historically accurate copy.
Another copy has been placed in Harmonie State Park; it can also be visited as a Waymark.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
