The stunning Immaculate Conception Monastery rises high on a hill above the small town of Ferdinand, Indiana. It houses the Sisters of St. Benedict, who share a mission with the monks of the equally impressive St. Meinrad Archabbey just a few miles to the south.
The Peace Pole stands adjacent to the walkway to the main visitor entrance to the monastery. It is a 4-sided pole with the "May Peace Prevail on Earth" message in English, German, Latin, and Spanish. The view down the hill from the site of the Peace Pole is inspiring.
The monastery is open for public touring and the recently renovated sanctuary is definitely worth a look.
