This was the residence of Rear-Admiral Richard Purefoy Purefoy in 1927 who assumed the name Purefoy in 1900 by Royal licence from Fitz-Gerald. It was built in the 17th century most likely by George Purefoy who died in 1661. The house was enlarged in the 18th century. Mrs Fitz-Gerald was lady of the manor in 1852 and she built the village school.

From the road the bright plaster can be seen from afar.
