This is a dual purpose structure. It is first and foremost a water tower. It is also a promotional sign for the Carolina Mudcats, who play Minor League baseball at Five County Stadium right across the road.

The tower is visible from US Hwy 264 and from the seats in the stadium as well. The round top makes a perfect giant baseball.

For those interested, Five County Stadium is also a WAYMARK. There is also a nearby GEOCACHE.
