The Old Toll Road and the Old Halfway House trail start here, at Route 124 in Jaffrey, and take two different routes up to the peak. Parking is at this trailhead, and fees are charged for hiking - see photo of posting. "Halfway house" refers to a hotel that used to stand halfway up the mountain, until it burned in 1954. (There is a private home at that site now.)
