This concrete bench is supported by two arms cast in the shape of an oak tree with acorn finials.
This bench also displays a worn bronze plaque which reads:
DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF
OUR FATHERS
The Grand Army of the Republic, by the
Illinois Dept., Daughters of Union Veterans
OF THE CIVIL WAR
1861 - 1865
According to the Joliet Public Library's
history, the Grand Army of the Republic started holding meetings at the library in 1904, which would be the approximate age of the bench.
