From the city website
(here), we learn that John Roper Branner built the Glenmore Mansion during 1867-69 on the eastern edge of the city, but he did not live to see it completed. Glenmore was then used for several years (beginning 1876) as the home of the Branner Institute for Young Ladies. A copy of the initial catalogue shows an ambitious program in music, art, literature, languages, science, and mathematics. It was then sold to Milton P. Jarnigan who moved there in 1882.
It is opened for public viewing during weekends May-Oct 1-5PM.
