The school is now the village hall and is used as a community centre for the village. A plaque on the wall of the building states the following:
'This School House was erected under the care, and at the expense of the good Lady Overstone by whom also the village of Sywell was rebuilt A.D. 1860-1864.'
The rebuilding of the village happened after a fire in 1809 which spread from Sywell Hall during George III's Jubilee celebrations.
The other plaque declares the presenting of the school to the village in 1927.
