From Ashburnham MA to New Ipswich NH and back - this is the southern tip of the Wapack Trail. First leg starts at the Willard Brook state Forest parking area, and goes north, up and over Mount Watatic. Then, after crossing into NH the trail goes up to an outcrop on Pratt Mountain, with a vista of the entire trail just hiked, and beyond that all the way to Boston. ("picture location 1", below) As a bonus, continuing over the peak a short way opens up the best-ever view of Mount Monadnock. Moderate hilly terrain, steep sections are short. Binney pond area (midway) may be impassable in spring due to high water. Trail is blazed with yellow triangles. Dogs must be leashed - porcupines abound. Wapack Trail Website: www.wapack.org
