Feagins Gap is shown on the topo (image in the gallery) and Bays Mountain Park trail map (link, then click park maps), while Ledbetter Gap on the trail map does not show on the topo map. The trails in the eastern section of the park, accessed through one of these two gaps, are significantly less used than thoses in the western portion. Bit over two miles to reach the gap by foot on park gravel roads or trails, or somewhat longer by mountain bikes which are very popular in the park.

In the book Trek of the Ancient Spirits by Brenda C. Calloway, page 92, gives reference to a Thomas Feagans (spelled with an "a" like local families instead of the "i") who purchased land on Bays Mountain in the 1890's.

Elevation (Official or GPSR reading): 2435

Mountain Range: Holston River Mountains

Access:
From Bays Mountain Park parking lot (N 36° 30.531 W 082° 36.581 at Official Local Tourism Attractions Waymark WM56JM), there are several routes to the gap depending on distance and climb desired. Mountain bikes can take Lake Road around (recommend counterclockwise) directly to the gap. My preference (and how I hiked for the pictures) would be to take Lakeside Trail across the dam and around the lake. Upon reaching the very short Sweet Gum Trail over to Lake Road, then uphill to the gap. Gives some views of the lake. Have done the cardio hike up Cherry Knobs, and then you have to come back down to the gap.
