A disaster team went to NYC from Sacramento and was there for several weeks. They as well as the victims were on everyone's mind.
Cal Expo is off the I-80 and extends east. The fairgrounds extend about one mile.
There is also an iron beam of the twisted metal from the WTC. 125,000 pounds of steel.
The polished marble, floating sphere (four ft. wide) with names of those killed engraved on it. The sphere weighs 5,180 pounds. Over one million people visited this by 2002. Larry and JoAnn Davis, fair managers, worked to ccordinate other donors to add other details. There are now reflecting twin towers, over 30 feet high; a bell tower with 23 singing bells and inscription; a Pentagon memorial; a Pennsylvania flight 93 memorial (pilot Jason Dahl, 1 psg. Thomas Burdette; a flag semi circle with 7 standards; signing that reflects the event. Mr. Davis died in 2006.
One sign points out that there were 343 fire and paramedic personnel.
23 NY PO. 38 other uniformed employees. 37 NY & NJ Port Authority personnel; and the 157 people on the aircraft.
