Long Description:The hall originates from 1637 when Thomas Clendon built it on the
site of an earlier manor house. In 1720 the house was enlarged on
the western side but then a large additional Tudor wing dating from
1859-60 replaced this by Anthony Salvin. Now it has an attractive,
many gabled front with the attractive ironstone of the area and
Colleyweston slates.
Home of the Stockdale family for over 200 years the house is a
splendid example of Jacobean architecture. Major Henry Minshull
Stockdale was the owner in 1937.
The stables are the originals dating to 1647 and the fishponds,
terrace and dovecote remain.
