This work is ambiguously fishlike, with decorative rays that might represent the tail fin, a scaled length that might be an elongated body, and where the head should be, it disappears into a nook behind some rocks. Or maybe it is meant to be merely decorative, not fishy, but then why do the scales look so realistic? Each one was individually formed, glazed, and then placed.
What's certain it that's it wonderful for tiny children to be exposed to fine art at their own level. The designers of this playground (funds provided by Koret Family Foundation) have done a great job of mixing artistic representation into all the play structures, within the constraints of safety and durability.
