County of Memorial: Jefferson County.
Location of Memorial: 10th St., Main St., Broadway St., and 9th St., Mount Vernon.
On the 10th street side of the courthouse lawn stand the monument and is companion, a Civil War cannon. The only text on the monument are the wars mentioned and their dates:

There are stones that circle the entire courthouse lawn. A stone marking a war (i.e. Spanish American War: 1898) and followed by individual stones for each person who perished in that war. These stones circle the entire 6 blocks of sidewalk around this lawn.
Standing alone, on the front side (10th St.) of the court house is a single stone on a white marble platform. It reads:

Description of Memorial:
Central items are a Civil War cannon standing proper aside a red marble monument. This monument is topped with a large white cross, and in column beneath, are listed the wars and dates shown above. There is nothing else on the monument. But individual stones border the sidewalk around the entire courthouse lawn. 2 blocks, by 1 block, by 2 blocks by 1 again. Completely encircled with individual stones. Each stone carried the name of an individual who paid the supreme sacrifice in a specific war. The name are in alphabetical order, beginning with a stone marking the war and its dates.
