Long Description:At this location where the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds is now
is a plaque on a wall that declares:
"Here met on September 6 1774
"the convention
"which three days later at Milton
"adopted the Suffolk Resolves
"The lighted the match that kindled
"the mightly conflagration of the
"American Revolution"
In 1774, the area was still part of Suffolk County. Norfolk
County would not form until 1793. Also, people gathered from all
around, including people from Boston. They met first in a tavern in
Dedham, then, a few days later, met at a tavern in Milton to
approve the document. Paul Revere traveled to Philadelphia with the
document where it was read by the First Continental Congress and,
after heated discussion, approved the document.
