The Thorn Hill Estate stood just west of present day Lexington, Virginia and was the home of Colonel John Bowyer, who fought in the the Revolutionary War. The estate was also the home of General E. F. Paxton who fought in the Civil War.
The text of this historic marker reads:
"Home of Colonel John Bowyer, an officer in the Revolutionary War; and of General E.F. Paxton, Commander of the Stonewall Brigade, killed at Chancellorsville May 3, 1863."
