"The Windows section is in a reef that stands out 300 to 400 feet above the desert; the Courthouse Towers section lies in a system of canyons cut as deep below the desert. It is best reached by foot trail from US 160, 4.5 m. north of Moab, which transcends the north wall of Moab Valley and descends into PARK AVENUE, the main scenic route through the section. The trail offers no difficult climbs, though it is impossible to enter the canyon of Park Avenue except at its head. The main scenic route leads long a continuous slab of Entrada sandstone from 150 to 300 feet high, perfectly vertical and intricately eroded."

The first turnoff after entering Arches National Park at its main entrance is the trailhead for Park Avenue, a trail given its name due to the shear cliffs imposing down like a skyscrapered city skyline. The trail is a one mile one-way trail that begins at the beautiful Park Avenue viewpoint (picture #2) and ends at the Courthouse Towers. This easy to moderate trail allows visitors to get close to sandstone fins, balanced rocks and other unique formations. Prepare for 30 to 60 minutes...depending on your stops on the way.

The park suggests that if you take the two-mile round trip, that you also return along the trail instead of the park road. Traffic can get heavy on the asphalt roads...

There is only the trail that accesses Park Avenue, the sheer walls are imposing...
